Recently, my dad asked me where I buy my records. When I asked him whether he meant the new ones or the used ones, he had trouble fathoming the fact that many, if not most, artists still release albums on vinyl. Once he managed to grasp this fact, he jokingly demanded that I return the turntable that I stole from his basement.

Despite advances in technology and the various audio formats that have emerged from these advances, records remain the preferred audio format of audiophiles around the world. The following pages pay tribute to the primitive audio format and those who keep it alive.
